Dear Customers, Clients, Employees, Suppliers and Friends of Cruz Bay Watersports/Island Time Watersports,

The devastation you have seen on news reports is accurate and only begins to reveal the destruction on both St. Thomas and St. John caused by Hurricane Irma.  Thankfully, none of our employees, family members, clients or suppliers were injured, however, many of them are homeless and have lost everything.

Our fleet sustained severe damage as did our resort hotel clients to their facilities. We are assessing our losses as we speak and working with our insurers to determine next steps.

While most of our crew has been successfully evacuated, our remaining on-island staff has been assisting our resort clients in getting the remaining hotel guests and key employees off the islands, via San Juan International Airport.  We are pleased to report no serious injuries and everyone is safe and accounted for.

This is definitely a catastrophic event and its impact will undoubtedly be felt for years to come. We hope that those among you who do not believe in climate change being related to severity of weather take a second look at your rationale.  With year after year of record hot temperatures in the Western U.S., the intensity of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, Arctic melting, sea level rise, increasing ocean temperatures resulting in mass death of coral and damage to the undersea ecosystem, it would seem that the scientific evidence suggests this is not merely “evolution” or coincidence.  Please respect the environment and the oceans in your lifestyle.

To our customers, thank you so much for your patronage — we have greatly appreciated your five star ratings of our service on Yelp, TripAdvisor and related sites.   To our boat crew staff, thank you all for your commitment to outstanding customer service and the highest safety standards.  We will do everything we can to help you while we begin working toward resuming operations. To our clients, thank you for your business and we will assist you any way we can in rebuilding your businesses and facilities.

The USVI and BVI are unique in the world for physical beauty and a boating/sailing experience that cannot be compared, even with other Caribbean islands.  Like Phuket, Thailand and other beachfront resort destinations that have been hit by natural disasters, the Vis will be rebuilt, tourism will return, and hopefully, Cruz Bay Watersports will be there to provide the best ocean adventures and experiences available.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

The Management of Cruz Bay Watersports
